Title: Network Operations Engineer
Location: Aurora, CO
Duration: Ongoing contract
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.

CCNP will be the minimum requirement for this role with a preferred CCIE.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Highly motivated self-starter with a proactive approach.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a data center environment.
  • At least 2 years of project management experience.
  • Strong communication skills; able to identify and escalate issues while maintaining positive relationships with business stakeholders, peers, management, and co-workers.
  • Hands-on engineering and technical leadership experience, providing guidance to less-experienced network personnel.
  • On-call and off-hours support required as needed.
  • CCNP certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a large, fast-paced network environment.
  • Strong background in routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
  • Experience working with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
Continuous Improvement:

  • Enhance department and organizational reputation by taking ownership of new initiatives.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and optimization.
  • Initiate and lead projects aimed at enhancing network efficiency and security.
  • Manage and perform life-cycle maintenance for all network devices and supporting equipment.
  • Network Design & Implementation:
  • Design complex network and circuit installations, ensuring scalability, redundancy, and high availability.
  • Support all network-related initiatives, including hardware and process management, architecture, design, and configuration.

Network Deployment:

  • Establish and configure voice and data networks by installing and configuring telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure smooth deployment.
  • Implement and manage network security protocols to safeguard sensitive information.

Advanced Network Configuration:

  • Configure and optimize key network protocols, including:
  • BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VPN, WAF, IPS, TCP/IP, UDP, CDN, DNS, and load balancing.
  • Ensure high availability and redundancy within the network infrastructure.
  • Integrate new technologies to enhance network performance and reliability.

System Analysis:

  • Collect and analyze data from plant records, remote office site surveys, networking drawings, databases, and building schematics to identify network improvements.
  • Evaluate network performance metrics and recommend enhancements.

Technical Documentation:

  • Read and interpret product specifications to engineer solutions that align with technological and financial requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive network and wireline documentation.
  • Regularly update network infrastructure documentation to reflect changes.

Network Testing & Troubleshooting:

  • Perform network service testing on circuits and equipment.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Proficiency with network capture analysis using Wireshark or similar tools.
  • This role requires a strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead network initiatives in a high-performance environment.
