Summary:
We are seeking a Service Desk Technician with a desire to learn IT and who enjoys helping others. As a Service Desk Technician, you will primarily assist staff with technology-related issues, contributing to the ongoing improvement of IT processes and assisting in IT project rollouts for our company's hardware and software.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Provide first-line technical support to employees by troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- System Installation & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, printers, and other office technology. Ensure all devices and systems are regularly updated with the latest software patches and security updates.
- Hardware & Software Setup: Set up and install workstations, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices. Ensure that software is properly installed and licensed.
- User Training: Provide basic training and guidance to end-users on how to use software and hardware and best practices for security.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment, software, user access, and IT procedures. Keep an inventory of all IT assets and update it as necessary.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues, escalating to higher-level support when needed.
- Help Desk Support: Manage helpdesk tickets, providing technical support to users in person, via phone, or through remote assistance tools.
- Collaborate with the IT Team: Work closely with the Service Desk Manager and other technicians to ensure the overall health of IT systems and participate in system upgrades and IT projects.
Job Qualifications:
- Experience: 1+ year of experience in IT support, technical troubleshooting, or a similar role. Experience with IT systems in a business environment is a plus.
- Proficient in Windows.
- Familiar with common productivity software (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
- Experience with hardware repair and maintenance.
- Basic familiarity with networking concepts (LAN, WAN, VPN, IPs, etc.).
- Experience with remote support tools and troubleshooting.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, able to resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide excellent service to employees and external partners.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Work Environment:
- Office-based with potential for occasional on-site work or travel to satellite locations.
- Hours: 40-hour week during standard business hours, but flexibility may be required for after-hours support or emergencies.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry equipment (typically up to 40 lbs.). Occasional standing, sitting, and walking in different office areas.
